I have a particular soft spot for Mediterranean barbel which is one of our endemic species here in Spain and one that Paul Reddish and I have been chasing in Valencia, most recently at the end of February.
Being in lockdown and having no excuse to delay the effort, I have spent the last few days attempting a watercolour painting of the fish and have reached the point where it is more or less complete.
So here it is along with the photograph on which it was modelled. Nothing is ever going to be as pretty as the real thing but I gave it my best shot!

Mediterranean barbel are beautiful fish. They are quite powerful and the hand they heavy for their length.

My best effort!
Well! I think it’s excellent!! Well done!!
Many thanks! It took me quite a while but it was worth persevering.
Talented.
