For some time now I have been painting trout in watercolours and, slowly, after many failures and abandoned efforts, they are beginning to take shape.
I have just completed a little “batch” of brown trout showing some of the extraordinary range of colour variation that makes these fish so interesting. Each of these trout is modelled on a particular fish. Three of them are “Irish” browns and come waters with which I am familiar. The fourth comes from the Mataura river in New Zealand´s South Island. I used to live close to this wonderful river many years ago and I would love to visit it again some time.
Anyway, here are the four trout.
Great paintings Paul..well done! H.

The Leitrum trout is very simsilar to Onslow Trout that are resident in the weed areas.
I’m very impressed with your artistic ability. well Done.
There is always a bed in Gore or Onslow if you happen to be in the area.
Cheers
Thank you very much Murray. I am hoping to complete a painting of an Onslow Trout for you and send it over. If you wanted to hang it in the hut at Onslow I would feel honoured. Thanks also for your kind invitation. If I could afford it I would be over there like a shot! My son Leo is of to university next year and the car has just died and so I don´t imagine I will get there any time soon. Best wishes,
Paul
